The NSW Government Department of Primary Industries has awarded Subcon the contract for the Fabrication and Installation of the Shoalhaven Recreational Fishing Reef.
Subcon’s Managing Director Matthew Allen said, “The Shoalhaven reef will create local jobs, build on our Australian expertise in recreational reefs and will provide a terrific boost for recreational fishing and local tourism. It’s also a terrific example of government supporting innovative Australian companies”.
Member for Kiama, Gareth Ward said the fabrication of the reef modules will take place on the South Coast, which is good news for the local economy.
“Recreational fishing is already a major contributor to the local economy of the South Coast, supporting about 1800 fulltime jobs and generating $395 million in economic output.
“The South Coast offshore artificial reef will provide another major drawcard to attract recreational fishers to the South Coast and keep them coming back.”
